"For six days, a ceasefire held over Oleshky, the starving town in Russian-occupied Kherson region. Hundreds of residents finally got out. The Kremlin planned to turn the evacuation into a show: Russian state cameras, hand-picked foreign media, and residents saying on camera that Ukraine had caused their suffering.

It didn’t work. Journalists warned the world before the cameras arrived. When Russian state TV aired its version, people already knew what was behind the set."
