Dylan Combellick is a commentator on Ukraine on Medium.com.
He covers every aspect of Russia's war on Ukraine, military, economic, political, and social. He is a keen observer of the nuances of war relationships. Unfortunately, those relationships are not what they should be, particularly the US's relationship with Ukraine.
What, for instance, are Witkoff (Trump's business associate) and Kushner (Trump's son-in-law) doing in the negotiations? They have no formal authority within the US government and no expertise in war--or "peace"--negotiations. They are there solely because they are close to President Trump, who wants a peace deal more than he wants peace. Trump wants to appease Russia at the expense of Ukraine for his personal ambition rather than for the welfare of Ukraine or for the security of the US and Europe.
Dylan's comment below from today's commentary is particularly apt.
The US often acts like an adversary rather than an ally of Ukraine and against its own interests in relations with Russia.
